About
JuriSee’s mission is to use data at scale and investigative journalism as a means to bring transparency to our courts, and empower public interest professionals and advocates in their work.
Need
We bring independent investigative reporting of the third branch of government (our courts), with a particular focus on state civil courts, starting with NY. We have chosen to focus on civil state courts because they are addressing some of the most important issues of our time, and those directly relevant to the lives of most citizens.
Transparency for our courts builds trust in decisions made by the judiciary and provides citizens with the information they need to make informed decisions about those elected or appointed to judicial roles of great power.
Approach and Editorial
JuriSee recognizes the need for local news able to report freely on the courts.
We maintain full editorial control over the content we choose to publish, and we do not allow financial considerations – including support from individuals, businesses, foundations, or other sources – to influence our work. See our Policy and Ethics for more details.
Juri See is building a network of individuals and the technical infrastructure needed to collect court data-at-scale and conduct resource intensive investigations supported by data (including) cross-tabulation with OSINT (open source intelligence).
